Legalism

Legalism is the belief that God's (and even Man's) acceptance can be achieved through the keeping of laws, rules or regulations. Because of our Sinful Nature, Legalism becomes self defeating since the Laws and regulations only serve to inflame our natural propensity (our Sin Nature) to break those very laws! Romans 7:8-13

Galatians 2:16

"know that a man is not justified by observing the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by observing the law, because by observing the law no-one will be justified."

Galatians 3:10

"All who rely on observing the law are under a curse, for it is written: 'Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.'"
