Emotions

Though Emotions can truly be inspiring at times, they can also be deceptive. At best they are merely our responses to the circumstances surrounding us at the moment. But these circumstances do not even have to be genuine, as verified by our changing emotions while watching a movie. That is why we would do well not to depend on our Emotions when living the Christian Life, for as Jeremiah 17:9 tells us ...

Jeremiah 17:9

"The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?"

Notice, too, how Jesus speaks Woe about the things that normally bring us joy because these things in fact deceive people and cause them to miss out on God's Salvation in Christ.

Luke 6:24-26

"But woe to you who are rich, for you have already received your comfort. Woe to you who are well fed now, for you will go hungry. Woe to you who laugh now, for you will mourn and weep. Woe to you when all men speak well of you, for that is how their fathers treated the false prophets."

Finally, instead of depending on our Emotions, we are told how to live in 2 Corinthians 5:7.

2 Corinthians 5:7

"We live by faith, not by sight."
